Don't make it repeat unnaturally in an attempt to fool the system. Since 2020, ATS has become much smarter, and most organisations now use AI-powered systems. In the end, it'll just make you look like a bot. Stick to natural arrangements which sound fluid, and you should do just fine.

𝟮. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀

ATS looks at titles heavily.

If your role was:

“Front Desk Personnel”…but the industry standard is: “Customer Service Representative”, you can combine them honestly:

This improves keyword matching and boosts your chances.

𝟯. 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗗𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

Most CVs fail because they sound passive.

Weak:

“Responsible for customer care.”

Better:

“Managed customer enquiries and improved client satisfaction through timely issue resolution.”

Strong:

“Handled 40+ customer interactions daily while maintaining high service satisfaction ratings.”

Numbers help ATS and recruiters notice impact. This approach makes your experience seem more real and measurable, rather than just a generic mention of what you did in the role.

𝟰. 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁

Usually, PDF is safest for modern ATSs. DOCX is accepted by nearly all systems. We prefer PDF, though, since DOCX can shift your formatting around based on the device that is used to view it. A PDF has a standard look regardless of how it is viewed. However, if the application specifically requests one format, please follow it exactly. Don't try to go outside it, as a mistake may cost you your job. You want to ensure that everything in your CV hits the limits of perfection to increase your chances of getting the role.

5. Tailor Every CV to the Specific Role

This is the most significant difference between people who get interviews and people who don’t. One master CV is fine for storage. But each application should be customised:
